Tunnel Opening with BESSEY Scissors
After approximately four years’ construction time, the new B-10 roadway tunnel was opened on Saturday, May 6th underneath the “Prag Sattel“ in Stuttgart. Highly qualified personalities of the city, the country and the federation had been invited to cut the obligatory ribbon, which they did with BESSEY Scissors.
Before the opening, the four silver BESSEY Scissors had sparkled in the sunshine. Stuttgart Civil Engineering Contractors had arranged them nicely on a silver platter covered with red velvet. Somewhat later, the platter was handed over to the top politicians who severed the black and yellow ribbon with one cut and proceeded to get into the busses for an initial trip through the tunnel.
The scissors had been specially engraved for this particular event by BESSEY. On their blades the following words had been added: “Traffic opened through the B10 Pragsattel tunnel” followed by the respective calendar date.
The “Pragsattel” has been the biggest construction site of Baden Württemberg during the past four years. It is 720 meters long and forms a link between Zuffenhausen and Stuttgart East. Out of the daily 110 000 motor vehicles on the road, 45.000 are supposed to go through this subterranean “eye of a needle” from now on. This mammoth project has cost about 95 million Euro.
