The cutting blade and handle of
standard tinsnips consist of a single
forging. Cutting capacity dervies
from the relationship between the
lengths of the cutting blade and
handle respectively.
The cutter heads and handles of
compound leverage snips are made
separately. Both parts are individually
hinged, producing additional leverage.
The advantages are that less
physical effort is required and
work is less tiring.
